For several years, Tallinn University has run the Student Ambassadors programme, which brings international students to take part in TU marketing activities. The ambassadors have two main tasks – first, to be mentors to future students and secondly, to represent the voice of international students in the University media.

Their first role has mainly to do with online activities, wherein the ambassadors give advice to perspective students of Tallinn University via E-mail. They also advise them about the TU Summer and Winter School. We do not expect the ambassadors to substitute the university’s official information channels, but rather have directed information seekers toward getting a real student’s opinion on student life and life in general in Estonia. In addition, the ambassadors instruct them on finding extra information on the university, Tallinn and Estonia. We ask for feedback from the ambassadors regularly, to find out the most popular subjects so we can add them to the TU website and talk about them during TU information sessions or webinars.

The programme has developed to a point where the ambassadors have started to contribute to the TU media sphere. For example, we recently launched the international Student Blog. We are working with the ambassadors to create content such as blogs, interviews, photos, videos, etc. to share on various TU social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, vk.com, and Instagram. The student blog is not only reserved for student ambassadors, we are willing to collaborate with all international students.
The international Student Ambassadors programme was replenished this autumn: we now have 26 ambassadors, of whom nine are fresh members. They come from all over the world for example from Russia (3 ambassadors), Georgia (3), Finland (6), USA (1), India (1) and Turkey (3). We are very happy that many ambassadors come from TU foreign marketing target countries, which helps us fulfil our plans in these countries even better with their help. For example, we have had a long cooperation with Margarita, a student ambassador from Pskov, Russia, who has shared her experience at local schools and education fairs. We always hope the students ambassadors continue working with us even when they return to their home countries.
